Sculptures
The clay series I have created with turtles and mermaids appease the desire to revel in fantasy art. There is a myth that mentions a mermaid on Bonaire’s east coast, so I feel my mermaid ideas must come from there. All of these original sculptures are shaped by hand with various types of clay and painted individually by local artist Janice Huckaby.

Sleeping Mermaid
The story that came to me as I sculpted this piece was of a mermaid who set out to see the world. One day she arrived at a small island of Bonaire, and there found her destiny, and was able to finally sleep. (I Look forward to the next sculpture when she wakes up to see sunrise.)
